From 4 to 8 Shafts No Tears Workshop: in-person or online Are you interested in weaving an 8 shaft project and do not know where to start? Find out how to make the transition from 4 shafts to 8 shafts with a method that can work for you. This Workshop will alleviate your fears and give you the ability to comfortably work with 8 shafts.

The format for this workshop will be a Pilot from the Qualicum Weavers and Spinners Guild.  Participants will be offered this workshop at no cost (Free) in return for their feedback in the form of filling out a written evaluation which will help the Guild with future workshop offerings (in-studio/online hybrid format). Participants will be offered the choice of in-studio or online participation (Hybrid format). This lecture style workshop will be delivered in 2 parts.

Part 1, May 11 (10 AM – 12 noon). - In the studio in a lecture format the participants will start with learning about common twill threadings, discover how to easily create tie-ups in Fiberworks or manually, and how to develop a variety of treadlings.  The online participants will be watching live from home at the same time and will be able to interact with the instructor. A variety of resources will be provided to help get you started and for future use.  Participants will then be able to take this knowledge and try it out for themselves at home for 2 weeks. Both parts of this workshop will be video recorded and the link for Part 1 will be available to students to review online between Part 1 and Part 2 and both will be available after the workshop ends for a limited time period.

Part 2, May 25 (10 AM – 12 noon). – Part 2 will also be in-studio or online concurrently. There will be an opportunity for participants to show off their results regarding what they learned in Part 1. The instructor will ask for participants to email her pictures of their results to be shared in Part 2 by May 22. Participants both online and in the studio will have time to ask questions regarding the Workshop and they will also be asked how the in-studio/online hybrid format worked for them. Participants then will have time to review what has been learned and how they can apply their knowledge in the future with the instructor. A detailed questionnaire will be sent to all participants in the Pilot workshop and responses collected will be used for our assessment and discussion on delivering future Workshops using this type of technology.
