Basketry with Vera Lohse - Let’s make a functional Reed Basket to hold fruit or your wool stash. Vera Lohse will guide you through this intriguing Basketry project made from reeds that will be available in natural to various hand dyed colours with a wood disc base. You will learn the basics of Basketry while enjoying a social day at the QWSG studio. The finished size will be about 7 in wide and 6 in high.

Instructor: Vera Lohse is an experienced instructor in Basketry, Dyeing, Spinning and Felting. She loves all things fibre. Vera made her first basket as a child. As an adult she pursued basket making and silver smithing. Her baskets and jewelry were sold at craft fairs and galleries in Ontario. As her success grew she took on teaching basket making and later felting workshops. After moving to Vancouver Island, 7 years ago, she was introduced to harvesting willow bark and cedar bark and began making baskets again with the natural materials. She is an active member of our guild sharing her knowledge and her artistic talents. Vera’s artistic endeavors are displayed at the Salish Sea Gallery in Bowser.
